2021 FTW Cyclocross Skills - Level 1

Monday Evenings 5:30 pm - 6:45 pm, July 5, 12, 19, 26, -August 2
AND Zoom July 8 at 7:00 pm (or recorded)
Tuesday, August 3 is make-up day in the event of severe weather cancellation.
LOCATION: At an unnamed MPLS City Park located intersection of Cedar and E. Minnehaha Parkway (1898-1800 E 49th St). Park is west side of Cedar and on Minnehaha Creek. Street parking on E 49th St. and in neighborhood.
This park allows us ready access to a wealth of technical trails along Minnehaha Creek. Each night, we will combine basic skills in the park with a different "challenge" on a feature of the creek trails.

Riders who identify as FTW (Femme, Transgender, Women)
From beginners to USA Cycling Cyclocross Category 3 Riders
Ideally, you should have a cross bike or gravel bike. MTBs are welcome too. MTB or flat pedals (no road pedals) please!
*Yes, I understand that this is a TOUGH year in the bike industry and it may be hard to find a bike. If you do not have a suitable bike but would like to attend, please message Coach Corey. We will try to find a loaner bike for you.
Cyclocross basics: dismount, carry, barriers, remount, corners, starts
Comfort/techniques for various surfaces: sand, off-cambers, steep ups/downs
Equipment: How to select tires/pressure, bike maintenance, shoes/spikes for CX
Think like a "crosser:" When to run vs. ride, line choice, attacking and blocking
Develop greater confidence via "sessioning" challenging features as a group.
Clinic Cost: $120 for full clinic

NEW THIS YEAR: Triple C Clinics are no longer permitted via USA Cycling. You do NOT need a USA Cycling license to participate.
Full clinic is limited to 10 riders in order to provide each athlete with sufficient attention and support to encourage growth.
COVID-19: This clinic will adhere to Minnesota Department of Health "COVID-19 Organized Sports Practice and Games Guidance for Youth and Adults" if any guidance remains in place on clinic start date. Accordingly, masking is NOT required for the clinic.
Instructor Corey Coogan Cisek has competed in cyclocross since 2007. She is a 2-time National Champion in the Master's Category. She has raced cyclocross professionally in Belgium, including representing the U.S. in over a dozen World Cups. She is a USAC Cycling Level 2 Certified Coach with 10 years experience coaching endurance sports. Her passion is teaching bike skills and cyclocross.
